Peniel Baptist Church (formerly known as the Peniel Lighthouse) was constituted in July of 1852. In January 1868, the church began raising funds for a new church building. In May of 1871, the name "Peniel Baptist Church" was adopted (see Genesis 32:30). Dr. Billy Graham was baptized in Silver Lake near Peniel Baptist Church on December 4, 1938. The church ordained him to evangelistic ministry on January 14, 1939. On February 20, 1967, Peniel Baptist Church dedicated its present Sanctuary and education building. The old church BUILDING, now known as The Chapel, was moved to its present location a year later. In August 1971, Peniel Baptist Church instituted the Peniel Baptist Academy Day Care Center and Kindergarten. In 1982, an Academy school building was dedicated and provides Christian education for preschool through 12th grade. On October 12, 2008, a new high school educational building was dedicated. This building is built so a family life center type building can be added to it in the future.
The primary task God has given every pastor and pastoral staff is to equip believers to do the work of the ministry and to edify the body of Christ.
To increasingly know and love Jesus Christ, and to intentionally make Him known to all people.
Exalt the Savior, Equip Believers, and Evangelize the Lost!
The globe represents our world. The church and school seek to be a lighthouse to reach our community and the world.
God's Desire: God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life
(John 10:10).
Man's Condition: Man is sinful and separated from God. He cannot know or experience God's love and plan
(Romans 3:23).
God's Provision: Jesus Christ is
God's only provision for man's sin (John 3:16).
Man's Responsibility: We must individually receive and surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
It is only then that we can know and experience God's love and plan. (John 3:36).
Reach: Train many to reach out with the message of Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 3:9; Acts 1:7-9).
Teach: Eternal Truths must be taught to the people who come.
(2 Corinthians 4:5-6).
Ministry: Care must be offered
for all the people we reach.
(Galatians 6:9-10).
Discipleship: Equipping classes for all ages to encourage personal growth (1 Timothy 4:7).
Fellowship: All the people must experience lively fellowship (Philippians 2:1-5).
Worship: All the people must express sincere, heart-felt worship
(Isaiah 6:1-3).
